Overlook Loop

Scenic and convenient loop with a view over Jasper.
This loop is especially good in autumn when the leaves change color, and when slow alights on surrounding mountains. At any time of year, however, it’s a nice stroll through the forest that includes an incredible view. It can be snowy in winter and muddy in spring, so come prepared for conditions. The loop follows Trail 2 from Pyramid Lake Road. It’s mostly in the forest, but at the overlook, you’ll find a hillside clearing, where rock slabs make a natural viewing platform. You’ll gaze over the Athabasca Valley, at a panorama that includes several lakes, Jasper Townsite, and a wall of mountains on the horizon. If you want to top off your hike with a bite to eat, the loop conveniently passes close to Pyramid Lake Resort and The Pines restaurant. Just follow Trail 15 to get there in no time.
