Table Rock Mountain

Hiking Trail

Hard
1.39 mi
562 ft
A short and fairly steep hike up to one of the most iconic peaks in Linville Gorge.

The profile of Table Rock Mountain is one of the most distinguishable and stunning peaks seen anywhere in Western North Carolina—its table-like profile slicing harshly along the horizon. Towering along the eastern rim of Linville Gorge, this short hike awards some of the most captivating views you can find in the southeast, and it's an excellent day trip for anyone in Asheville. This route to the 3,900' summit is just 1.5 miles round-trip from the trailhead. Though short, it is rather steep, and may be strenuous if you are not familiar with hiking in the area. The views are spectacular, however, so your legs will quickly forget the challenging climb up! The road to the trailhead is unpaved shortly after leaving the main highway. 2WD is usually adequate, but higher clearance is a must for the 7-mile drive up. It is only open between April and December, and though rare, early winter weather or severe weather could lead to random closures. It's always a wise idea to check with the local ranger station to verify the latest conditions. [Source]( Written by Brendon Voelker
