A rocky series of stacked loops along the edge of Lake Ray Roberts.

Isle du Bois is one of the rockiest mountain biking trail systems in the greater-DFW area. For those up to the challenge, as well as the drive, a series of stacked loops tours the park through beautiful forests, open meadows, sand washes, and alongside the lake, and there is something for just about everyone. Whether you want a quick rip on groomed singletrack, or a slow technical ride with rock gardens, technical climbs, and gnarly descents, IDB hosts over 10 miles of some of the best riding in North Texas. IDB, as referred to by locals, consists of 5 stacked loops with varying degrees of difficulty. This ride tours loops A, B, and C, which overall could be considered intermediate if you're comfortable riding through some rock gardens and roots. Loop D is considered the most challenging, but two expert sections can be bypassed if you want to explore loops D and E. Each junction is well-marked, and the trails are relatively easy to navigate, plus locations signs are placed along the trail in the event of an emergency. Bear in mind, they do *not* coordinate with the mileage. As with most state parks in Texas, a small entry fee is required to enter the park, but full amenities are available within. A [Texas State Park Pass]( could also be an option as it would allow access into other top riding areas, including [Cedar Hill]( [Dinosaur Valley]( or [Palo Duro Canyon]( in the panhandle. Restrooms, drinking water, picnic pavilions, and lake access are all available within the park. [Source]( Written by Brendon Voelker
