Wouaiy Enduro Epic

Mountain Biking Trail

Extreme
7.41 mi
270 ft
One of the most epic trail combinations in Verbier.

This enduro run is one of the most epic and most demanding enduro trails in Verbier. This incredible run drops an astounding 1,737 vertical meters from Fontanet all the way down to Le Chable far, far below. That's right: you'll have to take a 3-lift combination utilizing two gondolas and one chairlift to make it to the top of this mammoth descent! This run stitches together the Rodze, Wouaiy, La Dent, and Les Dailles trails for a demanding top-to-bottom run with an astonishing array of trail types mixed in.

Rodze begins with an advanced-level jump line. The manicured tabletop jumps flow into perfectly-sculpted berms to provide the ideal bike park flow trail experience. Enjoy it while it lasts because it's only going to get more difficult from here.

Rodze flows almost directly into the top of Wouaiy. Wouaiy is hands-down one of the best trails in the Verbier bike park, but it feels much more like an enduro trail than a bike park trail. Wouaiy does offer a few sweet sets of berms and a few jumps, but it will also throw all manner of gnar at you: slick root webs, burly rock gardens, ledge drops, wooden features, awkward airs... and then stack all of those tech features into a pack of switchbacked turns, and you begin to get an idea of the challenge that awaits you.

Wouaiy seems to go on forever and will undoubtedly have you shaking the pump out of your arms at each road crossing. When the trail finally ends, you could drop back to the chairlift for more bike park laps... or you could carry on down the mountain for a true enduro experience!

Next up is La Dent area. You'll have to pedal a bit to connect from Wouaiy to La Dent, but the reward is well worth the effort! From here on out, the trails get even more natural. La Dent offers steep lines riddled with switchbacks and roots. Sections of the trail wind between farm fields and quickly funnel back into the trees, tracing their lines across steep-sided ridgelines and plummeting dramatically downward.

La Dent drops out onto a dirt road, and a little pedaling along this dirt road brings you to the top of Les Dailles.

Hopefully you've handled everything that came before with aplomb because this final section of the run is home to the rowdiest, most technical shit you'll have seen thus far. The drop into Les Dailles is steeper, twistier, and rootier than anything that's come before. You'll be absolutely gripped as you twist and slide down this steep mountainside, thanking your lucky stars as you bottom out onto a benchcut trail, taking a right-hand turn.

Not so fast: the benchcut trail rockets abruptly upward and then back down again. One of the sections along the so-called benchcut descends a steep chute that's perpetually slick and slimy from mud created by a spring in the mountainside. Riding this section requires sliding down a steep chute, keeping it together over a series of wooden water bars, launching a small cliff, and landing on a narrow, exposed section of slimy, muddy singletrack before powering up the next rock ledge. Many riders will simply choose to walk this crux section.

A few more stretches of singletrack await to wrap up the run. Thankfully, the final stretches are fast and wide-open, allowing you to feel the wind in your hair after the steep sphincter-clenching slide you just experienced. The track is still rocky, but you can motor through at a good clip. Enjoy!

Once done with the singletrack, work your way back to the lift station in Le Chable and head back up the mountain for your next run of the day. Written by Greg Heil
