Peak 8 Vista Haus Uphill

Backcountry Skiing Route

Details
1.34 mi
1,252 ft
Route for in-bounds skinning before the resort opens.

Breckenridge allows uphill access in the mornings, from 6am to resort opening time (typically 8:30). Of the 4 designated routes, this one on Peak 8 is the shortest––perfect for a quick burn or for getting a bunch of laps. It takes the green run Springmeier up to Vista Haus, at the top of Colorado Superchair. This run steepens to blue terrain near the top, offering a nicely challenging finish for those working on skinning technique. After turning around, it’s a fast start to a mellow cruise back to base.

The start point mapped here is Stables Garage, which allows free parking from 6-8:30am with an uphill access permit. If no spots are available there, you might start from farther away, at North Gondola Parking or elsewhere in town. Before you go, be sure to read Breck’s [uphill access policy]( and get the free permit online. Written by Jesse Weber
