Numerous spines, chutes and glades that open to a wide basin
Numerous spines, chutes and glades that open to a wide basin, Lower Bear Pits is accessed by either Shot 1 gate or the two gates along the Signline Right ropeline. Once inside the gates, there are no hazard markings. This avalanche prone terrain is for experts only. Three prominent spines, known as Right Rib, Central Rib and Left Rib (aka Goal Post) span across the central part of this basin. Between these ribs are chutes that extend from the upper Bear Pits gates. These popular chutes get skied out quickly. Work the glades on the left when the rest of the basin is skied out.
