A short steep open face

A short steep open face, Rinky Dink is a difficult black diamond due to challenging access. Traverse upper Grubstake and snake through the trees to the opening on the ridge below Hormone Alley. This saddle marks the beginning of Rinky Dink. Some incorrectly dub this entire ridge Rinky Dink, which is actually named Kookie Ridge. Just 300 feet of vertical, at first glance Rinky Dink might hardly seem worth the effort. Thanks to prevailing winds, however, the snow is often deeper here than elsewhere. This slope has become increasingly popular. Written by Kim Kircher
