Hike and Ride Route in the area of Eggalm. Bus ride back required
When reaching the top of the Beilspitz T Bar, you need to follow the mountain crest up to the Grübelspitze in a SW direction. You have to hike for about 800m and about 200m height gain. Normally there is a track in, so there is no touring equipment required. When you reach the top, you have an amazing view over the valley over to the Olperer glacier and a good view of the SE facing wide slope which you are going to ski in a few minutes. Follow this broad ridge for about 1 km until it turns more to the east and you can see the houses of Waldhoaralm. You will notice a road after Waldhoaralm which you follow through the woods, including a sharp right turn, for about 300 meters. There you can see through the woods down to the village of Juns. Do this short tree run until you reach a wide open slope again. There is a farmers house in the middle of the slope, stay on the right side of the house until you reach the wood again. You can see down to the road in the valley from here, enjoying more tree skiing as you head down to it. At the end you need to take the bus back to Lanersbach, the bus station is in the near the bridge. For this route you really need a lot snow all the way down. Keep in mind, that the conditions can be really different from top to bottom. This is a really good run for spring skiing and the best time to get there on a sunny spring day in March is about 10am. It’s better if you wait on top of the Beilspitz and enjoy the breathtaking panorama, until the snow is perfect for your descent! Written by Martin Loinger
