L'essert north face

Backcountry Skiing Route

Details
0.85 mi

A really steep line where only a totally autonomous skier is able to go.

This is an easily accessible line as it is only 5 minutes walk from "Grand Fremoux" ski lift on the right. The line is really steep at the entrance, above 50 degrees and really isolated into the forest where snow cover can be thin happen due to the low altitude around 1650 meters. The line is a north facing, keeping the snow, however a good weather window is needed as line is very isolated into the trees. Avalanche risk is pretty high due to the steepness and even more in case of heavy snowfall. Rain can make it frozen as well. Any mistake brings you into the trees. It is easier lower down where steepness is less. The line finishes on the off piste line "Back side line" which leads back to the village and "L'essert" gondola. Written by Kevin Blanc
