Snodgrass (Snodgrass Trail Snodgrass Out-and-Back)
Mountain Biking Trail

Flowy black dirt winds its way through an aspen grove at the base of Snodgrass Mountain.
This classic local route offers up smooth black dirt singletrack winding through a gorgeous aspen grove on the flanks of Snodgrass Mountain. Where the trail passes through meadows, gorgeous wildflowers provide a colorful carpet. The upper reaches of the trail provide beautiful views of Mount Crested Butte, Whetstone Mountain, and the valley below.
Thanks to the mellow grade, the Snodgrass Trail is the perfect out-and-back route. Enjoy the sweet singletrack and deep woods in both directions with an easy pedal up, and then rip back downhill on the oh-so-flowy singletrack! On your downhill rip, just be sure to keep an eye out for uphill traffic.
Overall this singletrack is about as beginner friendly as you'll find in Central Colorado. The nearby Lower Loop is even easier due to a negligible amount of elevation gain, but however you slice it, Snodgrass is both easy and fun—a winning combination for newbie riders!
Snodgrass crosses some private ranch land and as a result, a seasonal closure begins every year on August 14, according to Travel Crested Butte. The trail reopens in late spring to public access.
While the short season on this trail can be a bit of a downer, when you DO get to pedal Snodgrass, it's a true treat!
