Watch Out For Livestock (aka Livestock)
Backcountry Skiing Route
Details
0.15 mi
50 ft
Link this gladed face with Damn Fine Forest for a consistent run of approximately 800 vertical feet.
The name Watch our for Livestock refers to the size of chunks in the avalanche debris. This slope is not as popular as its neighbors, due in part to tricky route finding and the steep, unforgiving rock and tree band that cross it mid-slope. From the top, work around trees to link a few turns above a steep tree band. Depending on snow depth, it's possible to ski/ride either of the two steep openings in the trees. Check your line first, as obstacles below are out of sight from above. A more open line lies just to the right of these trees. Link this line with Damn Fine for a longer run. Prevailing winds deposit deep snow here. Watch out for avalanches as well as avalanche debris below the steep tree band. Written by Kim Kircher
