Arguably the best fat biking trail in the Four Corners region.

The Southwest Colorado Cycling Association (SWCCA) does some of the best fat bike grooming in the Four Corners region. Boggy Draw is the premier winter biking destination, and the concentric loops here are routinely groomed to provide the best track possible. SWCCA utilizes a fat bike-specific groomer, carving a narrow strip of sinuous snow through the towering ponderosa forest.

The route mapped here creates the longest single loop possible, running along the outside of the trail system. The ride begins with a mellow climb up a wide forest service road before taking a right turn into the forest on a narrower, curvier track.

The narrow, groomed singletrack rolls and dips through the mellow terrain of this ponderosa forest, dropping into hollows and climbing back out, and occasionally slaloming down small valleys. After turning off of the forest service road, the ride is mostly downhill back to the parking lot, albeit with a few short, punchy climbs mixed in.

SWCCA also grooms several trails that bisect the loop, allowing you to either shorten this loop in a few places, increase the length of your ride by pedaling out and back on those spurs, or taking the spurs, looping back to the top, and descending again. The choice is yours! Written by Greg Heil
