"The world's most scenic stand of redwoods."
The "Stout Grove is the world’s most scenic stand of redwoods," asserts the authors of []( "It’s not all that large, and it doesn’t have the biggest trees, but for sheer photogenic beauty nothing beats this extraordinary grove on a sunny afternoon."
The hike through the Stout Grove is short and sweet, but it can be extended with other nearby trails. This 0.8-mile route loops through the heart of the grove, with a dogleg to visit the banks of Mill Creek. To extend your hike, head east up Mill Creek.
The trail is smooth and non-technical the entire way, with a wide, flat character that winds through the ferns and towering redwoods of the Stout Grove. The sky-scraping redwoods will have you staring up into space, trying to wrap your mind (futilely, at that) around the sheer massiveness of these trees. Written by Greg Heil
