Putt Putt and Hagen Trail Loop

A staple 10k trail run just minutes from downtown Jackson.
Whether you're visiting Jackson on vacation or a year-round resident, this loop will quickly become one of your favorite trail runs around town. Its proximity to downtown, ease of access, and beautiful mountainside views will undoubtedly bring you back for more. Wander through stands of lodgepole pine and aspen, explore lush sagebrush hillsides, and earn beautiful views of town at the mouth of the drainage.
As mapped, this loop begins at a large trailhead on Cache Creek Drive, just minutes from town. There is plenty of parking, and larger vehicles will have no problem turning around. Alternatively, some versions of this loop begin at the Nelson Drive Trailhead, which is the main trailhead for the Putt Putt Trail.
Pairing the Putt Putt Trail with the Hagen Trail, this loop is 6 miles long (10k) and includes about 1,000 feet of climbing evenly spread across the run. Though there are countless ways to make shorter or longer loops, and the Forest Service states that this is one of the best options. Access to other trails in the Snow King Area is abundant if you are looking for some additional miles. In particular, [Crystal Butte]( is an excellent addition that visits one of the best vistas this side of Jackson Hole. Should you include the side trip, know that this run will become much more difficult than listed.
*Notice:* The USFS states that the "trail is open year-round to non-motorized travel but has a leash law during the winter months." The trail is heavily trafficked, popular among mountain bikers, and even open to equestrian users. More detailed information can be found [here](
