Döeberitzer Heide is a 3600-hectare nature reserve containing 980 protected plant and animal species, just west of Berlin. Formerly a military training ground, the area has been transformed into a natural paradise where around 90 bison, 24 Przewalski horses, and 90 red deer now roam the forests and grasslands. The area is also a favorite spot for Berlin’s mountain bikers, as it has lots of varied terrain and tonnes of trails to try.
