A scenic drive that serves as a great road ride.

The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a scenic paved road that departs directly from downtown Gatlinburg and runs high into the Great Smoky Mountains. The name comes from a roaring mountain stream that the road crosses.

While this route is very popular as a scenic drive, it can also make for a fantastic road bike ride in the Smokies. The route, as mapped, covers about 11 miles of pavement, with the Motor Trail constituting 6 of those miles.

On this ride, you'll pass endless spots to stop and soak in the natural beauty of the Appalachians. From the roaring mountain stream itself to impressive overlooks and historic cabins, this short road ride is a rich sightseeing gem!
