Hike to a beautiful meadow and historic cabin.
The Frazer Meadow / Horseshoe Trail Lollipop is a popular hike in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The route mapped here covers almost 4 miles and 940 feet of elevation gain, but it can easily be extended if you so choose. The hike runs through the western portion of the state park, the trail winding between towering pine trees and the occasional aspen grove. Eventually, the trail reaches an expansive meadow—the goal of the entire hike‚ which offers beautiful views and a totally different hiking experience. Thanks to the wide-open grassy landscape, Frazer Meadow is a fantastic place for spotting wildlife, such as birds, elk, deer, moose, and bears. You can also visit the historic remnants of John Frazer's cabin, which was built in 1869. Sources: Written by Greg Heil
