A short but challenging couloir and fun slopes below
A short uphill section gives access to this short, sharp couloir. Although not too steep (around 35°) it is very narrow and quite tricky. From the Glacier 1 piste, at the point where it veers left below an obvious dome-shaped hill, carry straight on over the dome via a short, gentle climb. Follow the broad ridge beyond, staying near to the left-hand side, until it finishes abruptly on a steep shoulder. The couloir lies below, tight under the right-hand side of this shoulder, and leads straight down into the broad bowl below. Negotiate the couloir then bear right across the gentle bowl below to reach the top of a fairly steep, open slope below the right-hand end of the bowl. Ski this and at the bottom bear left to join the Pierre Grosse 2 route, marked on the piste map as an "itinerary" route. Written by Charlie Boscoe
