A steady descent to the Punta Indren lift
From the hut the least steep route is to follow the steps up, past a small outbuilding, then down onto the glacier on the Monte Rosa side of the hut. Head E then descend on steepening glacier, but never more than 25 degrees, easier if it is snow covered. This leads you off the glacier and onto a footpath leading to the Mantova Hut at 3500m. Below here the path heads E, through a steep rocky barrier and onto the Indren Glacier, which may well be only icy rubble, with a few obvious crevasses. Head SE then S to the top station of the Punta Indren lift, about an hour from the hut. Written by Jon Morgan
