An easy but staggeringly beautiful journey beneath Mount Shasta
The Snow Bunny Trail sits on the slopes of Mount Shasta, a majestic stratovolcano and one of the tallest peaks in the Cascade Range. The trailhead is typically accessed from the Bunny Flat Trailhead, located at around 6,900 feet elevation on the south side of the mountain.
The trail winds through pristine alpine forests, meadows adorned with wildflowers, and rocky slopes, offering plenty of opportunities to soak in the natural beauty of the area, and that's before we mention the epic views of Mount Shasta itself. The trail is clear and well marked but it's at high altitude and parts of it are rocky so this is very much a mountain hike - prepare accordingly.
The trail leads between Bunny Flat and Panther Meadow Campgrounds, and both are wonderful options if you're looking to stay overnight and enjoy a breathtaking sunset. Written by Charlie Boscoe
