Ski touring up to Ponten summit (2054m)
A fantastic ski tour that starts in Austria and takes you up to the border with Germany. Many descent options from the top.
Parking in the town of Schattwald by the ski lift station, you can immediately start touring up through the fields.
There is a trail but in the snow it's not clearly marked, but on a good snow day you probably wont be the first, so you can follow other peoples skin tracks.
There are no open huts in the winter on this route.
When you get up to the ridge, you will most likely have to boot pack the final section up to the summit.
From the top you can choose to descend the way you came, or if conditions are good, the West face can be a great option too.
