Granada - Sierra Nevada Loop

Park as soon as you can when you come of the main road rather than drive into Granada. The road out of Granada into Monachil isn't particularly pleasant but after that its v quiet. Finish at Mirador San Nicolas for a beer overlooking the Alhambra. After Monchil you'll climb up and eventually reach the main road. It's steep straight out of Monachil then there is a nice flat section before the main road. The main road is a fairly gentle and constant gradient. Just stick on this all the way to the top. When you get to the ski station don't go into it, just go to the left and climb through the village and chalets just above it. You'll then rejoin the main road and eventually get to a couple of cafes that look like alpine huts in a car park by the top. You can take this route back down as the road is fast and sweeping. You can still head around the lake if you go down either way.
