Cycling Route
Details
37.26 km
695 m
The epic Fire Fighters '2UP' Duathlon is a unique event which takes place on the 20th March 2016 in conjunction with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue. This event is fast becoming a firm favourite with competitors. It is a sell out every year so don’t hang around, grab your run/bike buddy and test yourselves against the gruelling Lancashire terrain.
The bike route is 37.2k in length and, again, it is one single loop that will take in the sights of Rivington, Belmont and Anglezarke. Hidden along the route are a number of cheeky little hills to test your legs and lungs. Within a few minutes of being on your bike you will get chance to get the blood pumping by tackling the infamous Sheep House Lane. You will have a short recovery whilst you cruise down through Abbey Village before you begin the steady climb back towards Chorley. Don’t be fooled into thinking “Sheep House” is all that we will throw at you. As you get to Chorley we turn you into the lumpy country lanes and sneak you over to the devil known as the Anglezarke climb. If you had any strength left in your legs then this little monster should sort out the men (& women) from the boys!
For this section of the event you are allowed to ‘draft’ with your partner (riding in their slipstream to share the workload). Please note, the rules do NOT allow you to draft from other teams on the course. If you are spotted doing this, this will result in disqualification. You must also ride in single file and not 2 abreast on the road.
