Shoal Creek Trail
Running Route
Easy
4.97 mi
159 ft
The trail along the Shoal Creek Greenbelt is a bit more rustic than the Lady Bird Lake Trail with surfaces varying from paved to dirt, complete with roots and rock obstacles as well as several creek crossings. While the trail extends all the way from Lady Bird Lake to 38th Street, we prefer to run the section north of Pease Park. South of 15th Street the trail becomes less scenic and the characters become less savory. Also the trail is closed due to construction between 6th Street and Lady Bird Lake so if you want to continue all the way to the lake you’ll need to take to the streets to do so. The north end of the trail is home to unique rock wall formations, spring-fed pools, shady oak trees, and even fossils. Our out and back route starts from Pease Park and can be extended by continuing north along Shoal Creek Boulevard.
