Boldmere Bullets Paris - Roubaix Spring Classic

Cycling Route

Details
111.45 km
1,038 m
The route leaves Boldmere via Pilkington Avenue and then joins Wylde Green Road down to the Brook. The route then turns left towards the mill and follows the cycle path up the hill to Walmley Road, crossing over to Signal Hayes Road and out the end to Thimble End Road. From Thimble End Road the route continues through Minworth to Water Orton via our usual route. In water Orton the route scoots around the back of the village along Vicarage Lane and Gypsey Lane before re-joining Watton Lane and turning right through Gilson to Coleshill. Up the hill through Coleshill and then the back way to Maxstoke (Green End Road). The route turns left after the first part of the climb onto and zips up and down towards and then around Shawbury on narrow lanes with lots of mud, gravel and grass growking down the centre. From Shawbury the route heads to Church End and then via Furnace End and Brook End towards Hurley. Beyond Hurley the route loops to the rear of Baxterly, taking a in an extra little loop (Smithy Lane) before continuing thrugh Bentley Common and down Boot Hill crossing the A5 at Grendon. From Grendon the route heads to Orton on the Hill and then the usual cyclists route through Austrey, No Man’s Heath, Clifton Campville, Harlaston, Edingdale, and Croxall. At the Aboretum roundabout the route turns left towards Whittington but takes a very rough section or road (Jon Lawrence request) before crossing over the railway and heading to Fradley Village. In Fradley the route loops around the back of the village before heading down a dead end road towards the canal bridge. The route turns left before the bridge down an unpaved lane before joining the canal towpath in order to pass below the A38 dual carriageway. The towpath is ok to cycle when dry but if wet stay to the high side of the walked/cycled line to avoid any mud. It is necessary to dismount to get under the bridge unless you are seriously vertically challenged. Beyond the A38 bridge the route rejoins the backroads heading back towards Whittington but turns off to Huddlesford first. At Whittington the route takes a little excursion via an off road track (Sandy Lane) before rejoining Common Lane and the normal route past Whittington Barracks and Packington. At Weeford the route turns left down the old A5 in order to return to Sutton Coldfield via the Canwell ford and estate road. From canwell there is a loop that takes in Camp Road and Hillwoood Common before entering Roughly and then past Moor Hall Hotel on Moor Hall Drive. The final part of the route enters Sutton Park at the Hartopp Gate and then takes in a wheel dip at the Wydley Lane ford before finally arriving back on Boldmere High Street. **IMPORTANT** – YOU RIDE A BOLDMERE BULLET STRAVA ROUTE AT ENTIRELY YOUR OWN RISK.
