START: Fletcher's Boathouse (upper parking lot) -North through tunnel, up Battery Kemble Trail -Cross MacArthur Blvd. Take single-track Battery Kemble Trail (on the Left) -Continue on Battery Kemble single-track past driveway and down into Dog park - Turn Right on Battery Kemble Trail main south (turns into double track past parking lot) - Turn Left onto Wesley Heights Trail - Turn Left onto Glover-Archbold Trail north - Jump off trail and turn Right on Van Ness - Turn Left on 39th St. - Turn Right on Albemarle St. - Cross Connecticut and pickup Soapstone trail (half a block) - Take Soapstone Trail to Broad Branch Rd. Turn Right - Run for half a block on Broad Branch to Parking Lot on the Right - Turn Right onto Western Ridge Trail (creek is on your left) - Pass Peirce Mill and under Tilden head up toward the picnic area 1 (to the right) - take Western Ridge Trail from the picnic area over bridge to fork (moderate trail) - at the top of first climb (after the switchback) turn Left onto driveway - run through the parking lot and take fireroad on the Left - drop onto Porter St. Cross Porter and drop onto Rock Creek Bike Path on the Right - take Rock Creek Bike path and cross over Calvert St. (pass the exercise stuff) - take dirt Trail on the Right before the bridge - Pass Norman Stone Trail on the Right and keep straight to Dumbarton Trail/Park - Take Dumbarton Trail through the gate and cross over the stream at the log bridge and head up the cart gravel path and make a Left - at Whitehaven Rd. make a Right to the Whitehaven Trail (follow along the naval observatory) - Run down the road past the New Zealand and British embassies on the Right and cross over Massachusetts to the Normanstone Trail (take trail) - Take a Right at Normanstone Rd. follow the yellow blazes down the road onto the trail and to the Creek and make a Right - REPEAT the dumbarton Trail segment to Whitehaven Rd. - After that, Make a Left on Whitehaven Rd. (cross over Wisconsin and the small park) - Continue up Whitehaven Trail and cross over 37th st. - Stay on Whitehaven Trail into the Dog Park and take the Left-hand Trail across the Dog Park to stay on Whitehaven Trail - The community garden will be on your Left (stay on Whitehaven Trail) - Make a Left on the Glover-Archbold Trail down to the end on Canal Rd. - Left on Canal Rd. to Cross over the Key Bridge to the Francis Scott Key Memorial Park - Take a Right down the stair case and the bridge over the C&O canal - Run Right/North on the Canal Towpath back to Fletcher's Boathouse FINISH: Fletcher's Boathouse
