This half day skin tour ascends to the top of one of the most emblematic peaks in all of Andorra and has hosted ISMF World cup events, amongt others.
A great 4.5 hour route for advanced and well trained explorers. From the top of the Montmalús T-bar, face south and you will see Montmalús peak and the northern ridge straight ahead. Start going up through the valley in direction of the eastern pass. It's a reasonably safe access area, just stay alert on the last section just below the northern face. Just below the pass there is a flat area where you change direction and traverse up to the peak through the last and steeper part. The ascent takes roughly 2.5 - 3.5 hours. Skins or splitboards are recommended to cover the great distance with efficiency - it's a long walk if you hike it. Once at the summit there are multiple ways down depending on snow conditions and there are some quite steep options. However we recommend descending to the same mountain pass and following the northern ridge closely until it gets flatter, just after a rocky area on the ridge. The ridge after that has two rollers. Go through the first one and stop on the second one. This section needs another approach. Just after the second roller you can drop on the left side of the ridge north-west towards the Pessons area. Here a clear area keeps opening up close to the cliffs, keep going down through that mellow area with scattered trees. This area is very rocky so heads up. Get to the lake and depending on the snow, the creek down can be ridden but to play safe just cross the stream which leaves the lake higher up on the flat area and go through the flat area to the point where the slope on your right has scattered trees. Once more drop in to the last forested area to end up on the Granota piste. Written by FATMAP Official
