Birgitzköpfl
The Birgitzköpfl is located in the Stubaier Alps, close to the Axamer Lizum skiing area. This is probably the easiest ski tour you could find in the Innsbruck surroundings and - given the short distance from town - on weekdays is often the destination of many skiers who want to move their legs after a full day in the office and enjoy dinner at the hut before then skiing down the mellow and flat slopes with the help of their headlamps....

Widdersberg Ost
From the Hoadlhaus restaurant (2304 metres), ski south on the Olympia Abfahrt Damen piste and follow it for 300 vertical metres to the Dohlennest bar. Put skins on and climb south-east for 15 - 20 minutes to the Widdersbergsattel col (2262 metres)....

Birgitzköpfl Skier's Right
From the top of the Birgitzköpfl chairlift, go skier's right of the chairlift cables, and make a descending traverse rightwards for 50 - 100 metres (depending on the exact line you want to take)....

Birgitzköpfl Skier's Left
From the top of the Birgitzköpfl chairlift, make a long 100 - 200 metres traverse (depending on the exact line you want to ski) skier's left to some wide, shrub-filled shoulders separated by some narrow gullies....

Birgitzköpfl Main
From the top of the Birgitzköpfl chairlift, ski right underneath the chairlift cables and follow the 50 metre wide opening which has been cut through the trees. The opening initially goes rightwards on mellow terrain then steepens as it doglegs left twice before coming back rightwards to the foot of the chairlift....

The 2 Cols - Widdersbergsattel and Schneidersattel
From the Hoadlhaus restaurant (2340 metres), ski south on the Olympia Abfahrt Damen piste and follow it for 300 vertical metres to the Dohlennest bar. Put skins on and climb south-east for 15 - 20 minutes to the Widdersbergsattel col (2262 metres)....

Olympiabahn
From the Hoadlhaus restaurant (2340 metres) ski under the very top section of the Olympiabahn train and onto the Nordwand face. Ski down just to the left of the train tracks to reach the top of a rocky ridge and then make a descending traverse below and left of this, aiming for a small vague col underneath the train tracks....

Plateau Hike
From the Hoadlhaus restaurant (2340 metres), ski south down the Olympia Abfahrt Damen piste for 1 minute to reach the HoadlSattel col (2264 metres), where the piste bends sharply to the left....

Pleisen Sud Est
Take the Pleisen chairlift then pole/sidestep south-east for a couple of minutes to reach the top of this face. The face can be skied anywhere to skier's right of the avalanche barriers at the eastern end of the slope....

Kögelsteig
From the top of the Pleisen chairlift, follow the Pleisen piste until it bends right. At this point branch left off the piste and hold a high traverse just below a ridge crest and cross over a blunt shoulder....

The Nockspitze is one of the closest mountains to town, located to the south-west side of the city, it creates a triangle with Nordkette on the north side and Patscherkofel on the south-east, enclosing Innsbruck in the middle....
