Backcountry Skiing Route

Details
1.79 mi
1,453 ft
Inbounds uphill route at Sugar Bowl, reaching the top of Mt. Lincoln.

Sugar Bowl is one of the few Tahoe resorts that allows uphill travel, but a season pass is required as of the 2021/22 season. With a pass you can go uphill anytime from 6am-7pm, by utilizing a handful of designated routes. Mapped here is the route to the top of Mount Lincoln. It follows groomed green and blue runs, keeping a fairly easy gradient to gain a respectable 1400 feet of vertical. It also unlocks a range of terrain to ski off the highpoint of the resort, including the best of Sugar Bowl’s expert runs. This up-track follows Union Street > Silver Belt Run Out > Cat Walk > Henderson’s Bowl > California Street > Crowley’s Traverse to the summit. When lifts are turning you could ski down any open run from there, but before or after open hours you should descend by the same route. See Sugar Bowl’s [uphill travel]( page for current policies and a number to call for daily updates. Written by Jesse Weber
