Viewpoint Cabin Loop

12.73 km·
369 m
The area around Strawberry Pass is popular year round, whether it's for the Seven Summits ride (https://fatmap.com/routeid/3047083/the-seven-summits-imba-epic/@49.1284315,-117.886587,9893.2427306,-90,0,1697.2856821,satellite,summer) or for snowshoeing trails in winter. The area is perhaps least known for its excellent hiking opportunities which take you to a series of charming little cabins....
2

Kootenay Columbia Trail

6.42 km·
188 m
Accessed from the Centennial parking lot just above Rossland, hiking up Columbia Kootenay Mountain is a great way of passing a couple of hours on a summer's evening. The route is easy to follow, intuitive and well signposted - so there's no excuse not to get it done! The route from Centennial parking lot can be done as a there-and-back (and there are countless others trails to explore in order to lengthen the trip a bit) but doing it as a loop and finishing in Rossland is the best option....
3

Lepsoe Cabins Loop

Moderate
5.69 km·
234 m
The easier of the 2 cabin loops from Strawberry Pass (the other loop, north of the highway takes you into much wilder and more remote terrain but it still technically easy - https://fatmap....

Rainbow Ridge

Hard
17.69 km·
786 m
Accessed from the [Seven Summits](https://fatmap.com/routeid/3047083/the-seven-summits-imba-epic) southern parking lot, this is a wonderful trip along one of the most famous sections of that legendary trail. Being on the Seven Summits trail, this is obviously a shared-use route so be aware of bikers coming down, particularly in the afternoon when most riders will be on the latter part of their trip from the northern parking lot....
5

Centennial Trail and Moe's

Easy
2.85 km·
51 m
Sitting just to the north of Rossland is a charming little lake which serves as a reservoir, providing Rossland with its water supply. The Centennial Trail leads from the upper reaches of Rossland's northern suburbs alongside the lake and all the way to Red Mountain village, but turning back on yourself at the northern end of the lake and coming back along its western shore is a better hike....
6

Old Glory

Hard
17.26 km·
1,154 m
Old Glory is the highest mountain in the Rossland range, and climbing it is a truly classic Kootenay hike. It's a long trip no matter how you cut it, but the alpine ambience and huge views make the effort more than worthwhile....
7

Red Top on Red Mountain

Hard
8.33 km·
432 m
Red Mountain is Rossland's local ski hill and a popular winter destination, but it's also a great spot at which to enjoy a hike or bike. Red Mountain itself (which this hike ascends) isn't the highest peak in the area, or even the most prominent, but it's the one after which they named the ski hill so that gives it some kudos! This trail (which can be hiked or biked, so watch out for other trail users) is a peaceful one, with most of it passing through quiet, dense forest....

Mount Roberts

Hard
6.68 km·
845 m
This is a superb summit hike on a challenging route, and it's ideal for those who want some easy scrambling but nothing too serious. The route up presents some difficulties, both technically and navigationally, but none that will stress experienced hikers....
