The Best Hiking Trails in Bormio

From the Pravasio car park just off the main Stelvio road, follow the S533 trail, and you will immediately enter a beautiful forest of larch trees. You keep on climbing up, passing a few benches with lookout points, a botanical garden on your right, and eventually a wide-open picnic area, which is great if you want to bask in the sun, not so good if you need shade....

Take the lifts Bormio 2000 and then Bormio 3000. At the top, it’s a moonscape of nothing more than dusty shards of rock and a big open sky. It's barren, it's surreal, and it's strangely beautiful....

At Bormio 3000 you enter a moonscape, which is simultaneously very eerie and very beautiful. Right at the top, all to be seen is loose shards of rock and surrounding dalmatian patterned mountain tops with white patches of snow and dark brownish, almost black mountains....

This is an excellent hike if you want an uphill challenge through shady forest. In the village of Sant'Antonio take the S550 trail to the mountain huts at Calvarana di Sotto....
