The Best Rock Climbing Routes in Aoste

This is an excellent day to a fantastic viewpoint and relatively easy, compared to traversing Castor, as your summit is lower, and it is less exposed. From the Ayas Hut reverse your descent of yesterday, heading upwards, N, onto the broad shelf of the glacier then E, towards the foot of Pollux....

From the hut walk up gently on the well made trail to the NE. This crosses an obvious moraine at 2790m, heading E at this point. It's relatively flat for a short distance, before steepening up at about 2810m, heading NE again, then more gently onto the glacier at about 3050m....

From the hut follow the well marked trail leading gently up rocky slopes. There are a number of path splits - make sure you don’t take the path leading direct to the Chabod Hut....

From the Chabod Hut follow the main track as for the Grand Paradiso. Leave this at the foot of an obvious moraine at 2800m, just after a stream bed. Go up this, then easier angled slopes above, heading SSE onto the Montandayne Glacier....

From the Chabod Hut follow the main track as for the Grand Paradiso normal route. Continue on the well marked rough trail as far as about 3030m, where you leave the main tracks, heading SE in the direction of the NW Face itself....
