Please note places for this ride are now FULL. Details of our next ride will be given here in the coming weeks > http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/rides.

Our challenge ride this month travels 98 kilometers east of the Surrey hills to celebrate the 98th edition of the Giro d’Italia. The Giro is famous for its long climbs and unusual road selection, pushing some of the best athletes the sport has to offer to the limits over three weeks. Fortunately our ride won’t take that long to complete and whilst we are not blessed with anything resembling the revered ascents like the Stelvio that the Giro is famous for, we can still take a taste of the great Italian stage race into Surrey.

Firstly, we have a broad range of Colnago bikes which we will be loaning out for riders to test on the day. Our collection of test bikes includes AC-R’s, CX- Zero’s, a V1R, a CLD and last but most certainly not least a pair of C60s. The bikes will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so make sure you reserve as soon as possible. Details on how to apply to test the bikes can be found below.

Upon returning we will also be offering a chance to unwind post-ride in the sunshine (hopefully) with a free coffee and Italian style snacks at the Foresters pub, located next to the shop!

We will be running three groups, taking on the same route but differing in speeds. The rides will be captained by staff from the store and riders and support vehicles supplied by Montem Cycling Club. The ride will be leaving on Sunday the 17th of May from outside the Sigma Sport store at 8:30am, we aim to be back between 12 and 2pm.

GROUP 1 - AV. SPEED: ABOVE 30KPH (19MPH)
Will be a fast, training pace for stronger riders with good group riding experience and comfortable holding a wheel at speed. Average speed will be in excess of 30kph (19mph).

GROUP 2 - AV. SPEED: 28KPH (17MPH)
An intermediate pace, easy on the flats and pushing on the climbs. A good level of group riding experience would be desirable. The average speed of this ride will be around 28kph (17mph).

GROUP 3 - AV SPEED: 25-27KPH (15-16MPH)
Group 3 will be a no-drop ride, leaving no one behind. Again, some experience of riding in a group is desirable. This group will look to average 25-27kph (15-16mph).
