Bike fit: fighting numbness

There are days I come back and think, “I’m alive. I survived another day riding the streets of Baltimore.” Not because anything dangerous happened, but more from the fact that at some point on most days I think to myself, “I wonder if this is the day that I will die; I hope it’s not too painful,” and it stands to reason that if it does happen—as unlikely as it may be—it would be during my bike ride on the streets of Baltimore. I am not a worrier at all but I am reflective, and I sometimes wonder whether I should spend more time worrying.

Today I was up in orthodox Jewish areas. It’s pleasant to be there on Saturdays because they are pleasant people and the streets are filled with them walking together and congregating at synagogues. It’s hard for me not to feel a special attachment to them on a day like today.

The weather was cool, a bit chilly, enough to hurt your ears a little, but not too much that you wished for a sweater. I found a nice shortcut and crossed off a neighborhood or two and crossed the 80% mark. I’m thinking of doing a big push this week, with a long ride each day in the SW.
