>a bit wet was a slight understatement lol!

It's been chucking it down all day today... I've been working from home, and every time I looked out the window it was bucketing it down. I did check the weather forecast:

And for the vast majority of the day we would have heavy rain. A chance of easing of later this evening, but I had my scheduled catchup with @dawnsart booked at 8pm, so I knew I had no option but to head straight out after work and brave the elements.

Besides, I'm reasonably well prepared for the rain, with a waterproof coat, and a baseball cap (the peak of the cap helps to keep the rain of my face, which means my glasses stay dry, a useful feature!)

The other thing of course is that on 'race day' the weather could be anything, but I might as well get used to it!

*I don't have an upcoming race anytime soon by the way, i really need to work on that. I was thinking about the Boston Marathon (not the famous American event, the smaller UK version) but I'm not sure. I have recently come across a very small local event. There is no distance, it is a timed event. Basically it lasts for 7 hours, and the winner is the person who completes the most distance. Lots of people do these events purely for fun though, and the opportunity to run for as long as they want, surrounded by other like minded people. It is in February next year, and is literally just the other side of Lincoln, so very easy to get to for once!*

Still deciding, but I do feel I could use an event to aim for to help keep motivated for training, especially when the training is so wet!

Anyway. I logged of pretty sharpish at 4pm, and got myself all kitted out ready to go out. I almost chose trousers over shorts, but I'm glad I didn't as although it was super wet, it wasn't actually that cold out.

The coat has a hood, and that was up as I set up as the rain was still lashing down. With all the layers on though I actually felt pretty comfortable, and other than trying to avoid splashing through the puddles, I barely noticed rain. Perks of being well prepared I guess.

I was heading out for a longish run down to Coleby and back. It was mostly zone 2 stuff, but I kept hitting the upper limit of my heart rate. I don't  whether it was due to me enjoying the rain, or if I was subconsciously trying to run faster so I could return home sooner!

After making it to the halfway point at Coleby, I turned and headed back for home. By this point the rain was no longer torrential, and had turned to a fine misty drizzle. I even managed to put my hood done for a little bit. For the last 5 minutes it started to get heavier, but before long I was home. Straight away I went for a quick shower and grabbed some tea, and I was ready to catch-up with my partner on Microsoft Teams.

Tomorrow will be a day in the office, followed by a short-ish run in the evening. Friday will be a day of rest, with hopefully lots of sleep so I'm fully ready to tackle the long run out to Whisby Nature Reserve and back

>fingers crossed I manage to do that this weekend!
