Oof, very painful. Really wanted to get a good effort on this with some TdF fitness before I left for Yosemite. Crammed it in at the 11th hour before flying early tomorrow and wow, what an absolute shit show at Chautauqua, quite the day to do it. Wasted some O2 yelling in French at Hérve before the bridge and messed up my breathing cadence, dodged about 12 people on FW, ran into 3 gumbies down climbing the 2nd summit, which really killed my DC time, then decided to huck downhill anyways on my bum ankle, 3 ibuprofen deep, and dodged all manner of clueless hikers on the way down. Shocking how many adults don’t know right from left… 

Opted for the slightly less “stylish” Freezeway ascent of going up the entirety of Freeway, back down the mini gully, and up Freezeway. I believe the Piton/Tunnel combo could be faster if rehearsed enough but I didn’t give myself the time this week. I imagine with more rehearsal of my line and a less busy night there’s room for 1:30ish of improvement on this time for me. Having an FKT of a backyard rock like this feels like it comes with a big asterisk knowing that there’s a minimum of 10 dudes that I know that could take this within the next few days if they chose to, but maybe half the point of something as trivial as an FKT is just getting off the couch and doing it 🤷🏽‍♂️. Fun to have stuff like this to try hard on right in the neighborhood, and fun to have friends like Danny Gilbert to set the bar and to chase down.
