Afternoon Ride

Full gas for what felt like forever! The stomach was not having it for the first 2.5hrs and I kept throwing up anything I put down. The stomach finally settled, but by that time I was off the lead group for about the 20th time. Chasing back each time really took a toll and the elastic finally snapped a little before the 2nd feed. Alexey came MOTORING by and I knew I had to latch on. After sitting on the Alexey train for 30+ min, he finally rode us off the wheel up a steep kicker. I grouped up with Zach, Kyle, and Finsty and we rolled for 30ish miles until Zach got a really unlucky flat with about 8 miles to go. We passed Carter on the 2nd to last climb and Kyle launched with Finsty while I got spat out the back. Definitely was paying for only getting about 30% the calories I had planned. Still was able to move up 2 spots in the overall to finish out the year in 18th in the Grand Prix. Pretty happy overall, and looking forward to 2024! 🚀
