Oof. That was...hard.

Had some serious second thoughts stepping out the door this morning into the pouring rain, but glad I stuck with it - even when my chauffeur (thanks Mom 😂) asked me if I was sure when the rain turned to snow on the way up to Cypress. No views = nothing for me to stop and take pictures of; it's actually perfect weather in that regard.

I knew pretty early that downhills were going to be slow with the wet rock and roots (+/- ice) so the question was whether I could compensate for lost time on downhills with faster climbing. Admittedly I didn't realise how tough the last 10k would be when wet - especially with bridges out and the water crossing... actually being a water crossing for the first time. As usual, took the same wrong turn on Little Brother after Thomas, but am super grateful to others (Sofie, Josh, Emma) to have been able to do a few recon runs to mostly recognise all the other spots I usually lose the trail.

Anticipatory apologies to Amanda: I am going to be a trash runner for the next few days.

PS - thank you Sasquatch (aka Brian) for telling me you believed I could do this last year. It only took me a year of it kicking around in the back of my mind to decide to take a crack at it.
