Schusters Farm Corn Maze - Phases 1 & 2

Woot woot! Took third overall in the 10k* at Blue Mound State Park! Super happy. :) I didn't think I was going to get top 3 when the race started. There were 4 top runners from Movin' Shoes that took off to start with, but I stayed back and waited until the climbing started to make my move (well, really just push hard up the hills to pick off two guys). Credit to the two I passed, Tim Wilcox and Kevin Lynn. Superb runners. Those hills are just brutal.
They changed the course from last year and added another major uphill. And oh man was that tough. We ran down the steep downhill along the Overlode mountain biking trail, and then ran down some more! And then climbed all the way back up. That was a struggle. It was all single track back up with some creek crossings, some with single log bridges across them. That's a tough seriously tough climb.
Nearly caught up to Joe Sepe along the flat single track after that climb, but once we hit the double wide again, he took off like a rocket, and I didn't see him again. I caught up to Kevin Lunn on the climb to the top of the mound, which was tough, but then ran scared after I passed him, down from the top of the mound and to the finish. He wasn't too far behind me and that made me nervous that he would bomb the downhill and pass me again.
Josh Lund took 1st overall, Joe Sepe took 2nd, I took 3rd, Kevin was 4th, and Tim was 5th. Solid group. These trail races are getting more and more competitive and it's a challenge! :)
