What a beautiful winter day for a gravel ride!  This was a gameday decision -- I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it work.  Only 58 miles, but the route had some zing, including the fun triple set of climbs: Miller Hill -> Long Hill Rd -> E Mountain Rd.  In my mind, cool weather equals climbing weather - at least when I can manage to escape Long Island!  Overall, an excellent ride - made better with awesome cookies for fuel - courtesy of Kathy.

Good news: Sunken Mine Rd is back!  The previous damage has been repaired.  Enjoy it while you can.  It may not be long before it's covered in snow for the rest of the winter.  Most of the dirt roads I rode on were in pretty good shape, with just a few bad sections on Jaycox Rd (you'll see the orange cones) and the usual potholes and ruts here and there.  Be aware that puddles of water were actually puddles of ice in the morning.  Dirt roads were hard-packed and fast riding in the morning and a bit softer and slower as the day warmed up.

Notes: "That looks steep, let's see where it goes" - My thoughts upon passing Indian Lake Rd. It *was* steep and it dead-ends on a private road alongside a lake. Mostly paved with a short section of gravel.
