The initial goal was Federation, but the track conditions did not look good enough.
Mt. Anne wasn’t ideal with lots of mud from Shelf Camp, but we managed a decent time taking 13min of Marks ascent on his up & down FKT and 40min off fastest loop attempt (without the summit) we are aware of. Keen to know if anyone done it faster. Decided to do the 8km of road as well, since it was FKT regional editor's suggestion (makes it more accessible ) and we leaned more towards this option as well.
We both done it before and didn’t have major navigation issues, although more reece could save few minutes. We pushed eachother on different sections, perhaps too much since Hamish struggled on the road back to the carpark.
Perfect combination of skyrunning, bushbashing and mud wading, inversion and cloud waterfall. Only jan 2nd, but it will definitely be one of the highlights of 2024
