I've been wanting to do this loop for a while. Nice work! Might be worth an FKT post.
Thanks! I'll post it on the FKT boards to try to spark some interest in it. I'd been eyeing it for a while too.
Totally on par with the new Taconic Rim FKT. A little longer and not as dramatic but still a technical and gnarly loop. And a very pure line at that. Hope to bump into you sometime out in these hills.
Glad this one's on Strava now - I've also been looking at this loop!
Any thoughts on a start/finish on Route 4?
Neil Clauson that would be a great spot. There's a parking lot there. It's like half a mile from the lot to the AT/Mohawk intersection but that half mile is part of the Mohawk trail. I think any spot on the loop is valid for a start/finish.
The high school where you started is also a very obvious start.
Just noticed the trail crosses Route 4 twice. I was thinking of the Goshen side... is the parking there or on the Cornwall side? BTW, nice work on this run...what a beast!
There's parking on the Sharon side where Rt7 meets 4 and on the Cornwall side where Furnace Brook goes under the road.
Congrats on a great run! This is the only blue blaze trail that I haven't run, but will give it a shot in a few weeks, starting from the high school. Did you run this unsupported, self supported, or supported?
Thanks Art. I think it might be the toughest blue blaze trail. I ran this unsupported.
