better late than never

Such a goddamn amazing day until it wasn’t. 
On record pace all day, moving fluently and consistent, never felt that great so late into an effort.

Went through Everest in 9:52, and halfway (12hrs) at 34.5k. Holding 3,000ft an hour, taking in lots of calories. 

Hit an icy spot around 36k and outta no where my knee really felt it. Did another full lap but very painful. Did some work on it, then a shorter lap but it never got better. Lost a lot of time here sitting down problem solving.
So I pulled the plug at 38k. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done. 

Can’t thank everyone enough for the support!! Especially to Erica Gebbia who stood out there all day and shoveled food into my mouth, she is an amazing crew chief ❤️.

Shoutout to my pacers who came out and kept me happy and hydrated Adam Loomis Rob Aldrich Jules Goguely Ian Clarke Andrew Cameron 
I’m bummed but I’ve made my peace with it, you take the positives and move forward. 
Just saying fuck it and going for it was a memorable experience. 
Biggest vert day ever for me so I’m content for now.
