20:2, nope not the odds that I would be able to hang with these guys on this ride, that would be way too generous!  20:2, that's the number of gears I started the ride with compared to the number of gears I finished the ride with.   Nasty crash about 10 miles into the ride that sent me and the bike a good distance airborne into the woods.  Extremely thankful to come out with just cuts, scrapes, and some bumps and bruises.  It certainly could have been significantly worse!  Bike seemed ok at first, but then I had to pluck the cable on the downtube like a guitar string to get it to shift.  That lasted for awhile, but around mile 26 the cable seized and it wouldn't shift out of the 11 cog in the back.  That left me with 2 gears for the rest of the ride:  53:11 or 39:11.  Between the hammer pace of the ride and the adrenaline spike of the crash, I really didn't have much left to keep the guys in sight, nevermind stay with them.  They were good and waited for me at intersections to keep me from getting lost.  Finished the ride and had some great food and conversation at the house.  Thanks for hosting, John.  Thanks for the patience on the ride to everyone!
