Tuesday 8th August was a depressing day. The sort of day that give an an English summer a bad name. When the highlight is a drive to the local garden centre for a coffee, and watching a 6 year old repeat of Homes Under the Hammer. Heavy rain for 24 hours put cycling out of the question. Even the big footie match at Blundell Park abandoned with waterlogged pitch. Fortunately Wednesday gave grounds for optimism; the rain stopped mid morning and there was a window of opportunity for a short ride to Clumber for a 1pm liaison with Pat. Couldn't resist calling in at Laura's cafe to see how she is and of course for the usual teacake. Little fish they say are sweet and for a change it was a pleasure to ride with a helpful wind on my back. Looking forward to what tomorrow's group ride brings. 18C. Wind 13mph NW
