After a slow start, we lingered a bit longer in the Links, enjoying a pastry and bumping into an old pal. After few more errands and a chance encounter with Matt H, we eventually joined the Water of Leith bike path… which has been resurfaced in rubber?! A treacly pull up to Balerno was rewarded with a headwind and confusing new build estates. The NCN 75 delivers junk miles by the bucket load – even the most avid fly tipping enthusiast will find delights here. The path from Bathgate onward is, genuinely, tremendously good, apart from the enforced portage around glass strewn gullies. We narrowly avoided joining the M8 then took the A8 all the way into town. A tough day but good fun as ever.
