"tempo" ride over tho help at the 12 hour Champs. rarely ride in this direction.. It is so hard. Maybe i had a head wind too.. but regardless its tough.  Like ardennes riding- pretty substantial climbs consistantly, often steep. Riding tempo on this terrain is almost impossible, as constantly over threshold on the climbs. Took way longer than i expected. I was pretty ruined- ruined enough not to give an iota  about getting naked in a layby and thowing a bucket of water over myself. Proper ride. Meanwhile Pete had been cranking out over 27mph for over 200 miles.  Perspective.
