After a restful sleep sheltered by a fine birch, we rattled along the shore to Dalavich. Coffee guzzled, no climb along this hard stretch of road in the murky weather was relished. A few twisty descents were not just reward for our aching bums either. Kilchrenan Inn didn’t open until 13:00 (!) so, sadly chipless, we ate humous while watching an old couple probably due for a retest disastrously kerb a flash BMW. Waterproofs went on and off in the space of a short climb, then we blasted down the beautiful wooden road to Taynuilt. Pancakes procured, we turned westward to take the glen through to Oban. Highland coos were as unaware of our presence as we were the time. The greatest haste of our trip so far was in the Oban Lidl, where I did a mad supermarket sweep to just catch the 15:50 ferry. Onwards to Mull!
