Played hooky with Zephyr on a Wednesday, to celebrate the end of his AP exams and successful crew season (State Champs!) We brought our bikes on the 6am ferry, biked 7 miles to Smith Point in Madaket on the west edge of Nantucket, then I did the run to hit all 3 island lighthouses. The last one was *much* harder than anticipated with 5 miles on unrunnable soft sand. But I saw a LOT of cute seals on the beach. Zephyr biked to the final beach and walked out to meet me on my way back from the finish, so I didn't have to retrace the awful sand alone. But I still needed to run back to my bike in Madaket, then bike back to the ferry dock. We *barely* made the 7pm ferry. A fun, hard, and successful hooky-playing adventure.
