“Run it by feel”, I thought. “See if you can be first V40, as most of the local quickies will be at Severn Bridge”.



Never checked pace. Or indeed HR. Or I might have slowed down. And actually finished. Indeed, had I looked at HR I would definitely have slowed down...



Yes, it was hot. But I carried water with me and drank at the aid stations. I’d hydrated beforehand. 



Epileptic seizure? The jury’s out. Seems to depend whom you ask. On the whole (and based on what witnesses and paramedics have told me – although some think otherwise), I don’t think so: this might have been more akin to Bristol 2015. No tongue-biting, that’s for sure.



Bring on Bristol in three weeks’ time. I’ll go again, and I’ll go hard again. But if the outcome’s the same, I may have to retire from HMs an’all.

…good as gold, but stupid as mud. Carry on regardless. And thanks to all who took care of me or asked after me. Not sure "I remember you from another race!" (a Clevedon 10k) is what you want to hear from the local St. John's paramedic, but... ;-)
